Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were notified by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.

An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
